QUEENSTOWN
DISASTROUS HOUSE FIRE At 2 a.m on Sunday the Glen Nevis homestead at Kingston comprising six rooms' and owned by Mr Archie McCaughan was totally destroyed by fire. The fire started in a room occupied *by a casual employee, and obtained a strong hold before it was discovered. The owner and his wife and a daughter had to make a hurried exit from the building and nothing was saved but a fur coat. The employee, Mr T. Dunlay, was badly burned about the head and hands. The building was not insured. Ski-ing Possibilities During the past week the weather has been very changeable with frequent rains. There have been several falls of snow on the higher levels and there is a sufficient deposit to allow good ski-ing on Skipper’s saddle and Coronet Peak.
