PROBLEM OF ALBANIA
VOICE IN ITALIAN TREATY OPINION SHARPLY DIVIDED (Rec. 8 p.m.) PARIS, Aug. 10. M. Wincenty Rzymowski (Poland), addressing the Plenary Session in support of Jugoslavia’s proposal to allow Albania to attend the Paris conference with “ a consultative voice.” during discussion of the Italian treaty, asked why some of the protectors of small nations had not spoken in Albania’s favour.
Mr A. V. Alexander supported Mr Byrnes’s proposal to refer the Albanian question and similar applications to the General Commission, but Mr Vyshinsky and Mr Manuilsky demanded that , the conference should determine Albania’s position immediately. The conference decided to reopen the Albanian question on Monday. M. Pijade (Jugoslavia) enlivened the debate by alleging that M. Tsaldaris (Greece) suggested to him only the other day that Albania should be divided between Greece and Jugoslavia ‘‘He calls that realistic politics, but we don’t like such politics,” he said. Despite the lessons of history, the Greek Government still failed to understand the present world situation. The. Greek Government’s idea was the elimination of Albania from the map. The Greek regime had not abandoned the policy of its predecessors, which was to foment and start wars in the Balkans. ' ‘ •
