DANGER ON THE ROADS TRANSPORT OPERATORS PERTURBED The practice of some motorists of throwing empty ■ bottles on roadways was adversely commented on yesterday by Mr J. W. Wilson, secretary of the Otago. Commercial Transport Association, in conversation with a Daily Times reporter. Mr Wilson pointed out that truck tyres were coming forward only in limited quantities, and with the heavy costs to-day, the damage caused by broken glass was seriously concerning transport operators. After the Rugby football match between the Kiwis and Otago at Carisbrook and the Ranfurly Shield match between Otago and Southland at Invercargill the piosition was such as to constitute a serious menace to motorists in general and to transport operators in particular, he said. The vehicles of operators were being worked under heavy pressure to cope with public demands, and every vehicle immobilised placed a further strain on the remainder.
