POST IN UNITED STATES MR N. J. MAKIN APPOINTED (Rec. 7 p.m.) CANBERRA. Aug. 3. Mr Chifley announced that the King has approved the appointment of Mr N. J. O. Makin as Australian Ambassador in the United States, the appointment to date from August 15, and it was intended that Mr Makin should remain in America for five vea’*' From
to-day, Mr A. S. Drakeford becomes Minister for the Navy in place of Mr Makin, and Mr J. J. Dedman Minister for Munitions and Aircraft Production Mr Chifley said the Government proposes to appoint its resident Minister in London, Mr J. Beasley, as High Commissioner in the United Kingdom as from August 15.
