HARD GAME FOR MOSGIEL
In the game played at Prospect Park, Maori Hill had Mosgiel hard pressed in the early stages. They were a goal ahead in short order when Chambers finished off a fine concerted effort, involving all the forwards, by beating Martin with a smart header. Hill continued to have the better of the exchanges and Wadsworth put the side further ahead with a long, dropping shot which Martin appeared to misjudge. This reverse spurred Mosgiel to attack, but the defence held, with Ferguson being prominent. Burt saved a shot from Skinner, and a dangerous movement ended in a corner, which Mills turned to account by scoring. R. Stevens scored Mosgiel’s equaliser early in the second spell from a penalty. J. Skinner was transferred to centre and just missed the net with a fine drive. Bur,t then failed to hold a shot from McCloy, and J. Skinner added another goal. The Hill eleven appeared to slacken its efforts, but after a hard piece of play J. Little netted, making the final score: Mosgiel 5, Maori Hill 3. Mr W. M. Smith was the referee.
