PETER DAWSON INDISPOSED Owing to indisposition, Mr Peter Dawson was unable to be present at the community sing held in the Strand Theatre yesterday, and he expressed regret to the committee that he could not assist in its efforts on behalf of the Food for Britain Campaign. His accompanist on the tour, Mr Clarence Black, was present, however, and his playing of three selections, including his own arrangement of Liszt’s second Hungarian Rhapsody, was warmly received. The leader, Mr H. P. Desmoulins, thanked Mr Black, and said that several contributions had been promised as a result of his playing:— The response to the appeal was again excellent, and among the donations were £lO from the Dunedin French Club, and another mat made by an elderly resident of Wingatui, which was sold for £ls. Through her efforts, the fund has benefited by £46. The leader was assisted by Mr J. F. Himburg, with Mr A H. Pettitt at the piano.
