LABOUR FOR INDUSTRY
IMMIGRATION SCHEME NEGOTIATIONS WITH BRITAIN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 25. The New Zealand Government is negotiating with the United Kingdom Government on the possibility of obtaining up to 1000 single men ana women for employment in particular industries and services where accommodation 'is already available and where employment is assured. No; general policy of assisted immigration, however, will be instituted at present. Meanwhile, the employment situation in New Zealand is being kept under close study by the National Employment Service. Investigations have been completed by two officers of the department, who will leave this week-end for Britain to deal with immigration inquiries. These officers will be equipped to give information and advice on prospects to intending immigrants.
