FULL-TIME FACILITIES

ST. CLAIR POST OFFICE NEW BUILDING OBTAINED The Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, announced in an interview with a Daily Times reporter yesterday that authority had been granted for the opening of a full-time Post and Telegraph Office at St. Clair, with a postmistress in charge. The new office will be a complete one, conducting all classes of business, including savings bank transactions, and will be situated in the hydro building at the corner of the Esplanade. The interior of the premises will be remodelled and provided with up-to-date post office facilities, including a toll cabinet. For the past 22 years the office has been controlled as a non-permanent office, without savings bank facilities, by Mr John Nicolson as postmaster.

The Minister said he was sure the people of the district appreciated the services that had been rendered to the community by Mr Nicolson during tne long period he had acted as postmaster, and only the demand for greater facilities had necessitated the establishment of a full-time office in another building.
