CLASH OF DATES

CHRISTCHURCH LEAGUE MATCH PROPOSED ALTERATION (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 8. Because the Rugby Union has arranged a match with the Kiwis for July 27 and there is a race meeting at Riccarton on the same day, the Canterbury Rugby League will suggest to the New Zealand Council that the English League team should play on the West Coast on July 27 or 28 and that the match in Christchurch should be played as a mid-week fixture. This could be arranged by minor alterations in the itinerary, as a match is to be played at Wellington on July 31. At present the English team is to play in Christchurch on July 27, with a match at Greymouth on the following Monday. If the Englishmen go direct to Greymouth they could play a Sunday game there on July 28, return to Christchurch the following day, and play Christchurch either on the Tuesday or Wednesday.
