SUDDEN DEATH

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 7. Mr Sidney William Lane, of Lyttelton, national secretary of the Harbour Boards’ Employees’ Union, died suddenly at Lyttelton on Saturday night, while attending a smoke concert to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the founding of the union. Mr Lane, who was aged 55 years, was employed by the Lyttelton Harbour Board as a wharf attendant.

INJURED IN COLLISION

(P.A.) TIMARU. July 7. Four men were injured when a truck, which is alleged to have been converted, collided with a light car at an intersection at 6.30 p.m. yesterday. They are Keir Robertson, aged 28, concussion; Patrick Joseph Hagerty, aged 27, a seaman on the Samstrae, abrasions and bruised scalp; William Cook, aged 24 concussion; William Galbraith, aged 27| slight concussion and fractured ribs.
