MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Maniototo County Council was attended by Crs E. G. Williamson (chairman), A. Kane, L. A. Bleach, J. B. McGill, J. McK. Morgan, P. Aitken, T. A. Lowis, and G. G. Scott. The chairman referred to the deaths of Mrs H. Hayes (of Oturehua). Mrs McLeod (of Gimmerburn), Mrs Dickinson (of Kokonga), Mrs Delaney (of Naseby), Mr R. S. Inder‘(of Naseby), and Lieuten-ant-colonel E. W. George (of the Vincent County Council staff), and a motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried in silence. The county clerk reported that he had interviewed the deputy superintendent of the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board on the subject -of fire fighting equipment..— It was decided to call a meeting of Rar.furly residents to discuss the matter, and Cr Bleach was appointed to attend on behalf Of the council. The medical officer of health advised that as a result of sampling, the investigation of the Ranfurly water supply disclosed pollution, and he considered that the provision of a good water supply was an urgent necessity—lt was decided to investigate the possibility of locating a new supply. _ • Accounts amounting to £1954 10s were passed for payment.
