DEMAND BY FARMERS
PROVISION FOR INCREASED COSTS (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, June 11. “That this conference demands that the Government implement in full the 1938 committee's report and (hat provision be made for all increased costs since the last adjustment was made, and also that the increased payment for labour reward be made on the same percentage as that granted to other workers as a result of recent legislation." was a remit carried at the annual Southland provincial conference of Federated Farmers to-day. Other remits carried were: “That in view of the fact that the cost o r imported basic slag is to be subsidised from the Dairy Industry Account, this conference requests the Dairy Board to see that a reasonable allocation is made to Southland dairy farmers.” “That it be a recommendation to the Government to reduce taxation on primary produce to give the farmers an incentive to increase production.”
