DEATH IN ENGLAND

MR N. G. WIDDOWSON The death occurred suddenly on May 11 In England, of Mr Norman Geoffrey Widdowson, who will be remembered by his old comrades of the Ist N.Z.E.F. as a lieutenant of the Royal Artillery in Egyptand France. When the Air Raid Precaution movement began to take shape throughout England in 1938, Mr Widdowson at once assumed an active part in Torquay, and was appointed head warden, a position he held until the close of 1940. Then, called up as a member of the Army Officers’ Emergency Reserve, he rejoined his old regiment, with which he served in England until his recent demobilisation. Mr Widdowson, who was a well-known Fleet street estate agent and valuer, was a brother of Mr W. H. S. Widdowson, of Torridge street, Oamaru.
