OAMARU ATHENÆUM

MONTHLY MEETING The president. Archdeacon J. D. Cooper, was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Oamaru Athenaeum Committee on Monday night. The financial statement for May was read, and accounts totalling £52 6s 9d were passed for payment. The librarian's report showed an increase in membership. Electrical repairs necessary for the building were pointed out, ana it was decided to hold this matter over for a month, as it- was expected that the Oamaru Borough Council would be making representations to the committee in connection with the municipal library scheme. The resignation of Mr Keith Stronach was accepted with regret, and reference was made to his excellent work on the committee and as president and to his untiring efforts in the interest of the municipal library for Oamaru.
