WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
Maheno Junior.—Miss J. Duff presided. The motto was: “Home-keeping hearts are happiest,” and the roll call, "A comedy cartoon.” Knitted peggy squares were handed in by members. The winners of the competition (knitted article) were Miss I. McCone 1, Miss J. Duff 2, Misses V. Robb and D. Davidson equal 3. Kaka Point.—The president extended a welcome to a visitor from Dunedin. Mrs Aitkenhead was nominated delegate to the annual meeting of the South Otago Federation, to be held in Balclutha on April 5. The motto was, “ Have you had a kindness shown o—Pass 0 —Pass it on,” and the roll call, “ What I like doing when I spend a day in the city.” Competitions resulted Sultana scones' Mrs F. Bates 1, Miss Bates 2, Mesdames Dabinet and Aitkenhead (equal) 3. Vase of annuals: Mrs Aitkenhead 1, Mesdames Dabinett and T. Tilson (equal) 2, Miss Bates 3. Hostesses for afternoon tea were Mrs Dabinett and Mrs Aitkenhead.
