MEMBER RESIGNS

BRUSH WITH CHAIRMAN INCIDENT AT TROTTING MEETING The customary calm of the Forbury Park Trotting Club Committees monthly meeting was rudely shattered last night when a passage-at-arms between the chairman (Mr B. S. Irwin) and Mr J. Trengrove ended with the resignation of the latter and his withdrawal from the meeting. A motion that the stakes for the winter meeting should be £7OOO for the two days was moved by Mr Trengrove and seconded. The motion had been under discussion for a short period when Mr Trengrove said; “ The motion has be6R moved and seconded and should be put to the meeting.” The chairman: I will tell you when a motion is to be put to the meeting. Are you trying to tell me my job? Mr Trengrove: I don’t want your job' The chairman then called him to order, warning him about the manner in which he addressed the chair, and asked him for an apology. Mr Trengrove said he would apologise, and then repeated, in forcible terms, that he did npt want the chairman’s job. “ I resign. I have finished,’ 1 he said. Just before going out of the door he turned to the meeting and added that he had resigned from the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club, and bade the members good-night. It was then decided lo go into committee to discuss the incident. When the open meeting was resumed it was decided that Mr Trengrove should be asked to tender an apology to the chairman.
