KIWI RUGBY TOURISTS

MATCH AGAINST WALES THE TEAM ANNOUNCED (N.Z.E.F. Special Correspondent) CARDIFF, Jan. 3. The Kiwi team against Wales will be: Scott; Sherratt, Smith, Argus; Proctor, Allen; Saxton (captain). Forwards: McPhail, Haigh, Simpson, Blake, Young, Rhind, Arnold, Finlay. Saxton has not played recently, but it is believed that his shoulder injury has now cleared up, and the selectors are evidently taking a chance to gain advantage of his generalship on the field. It is most unfortunate that Kearney is still unfit to play following his Cardiff injury, but this will be balanced by the inability of the Welsh to get Hayden Tanner back from Italy for the match.

In the Kiwi pack the selectors have preferred speedy forwards for places for which there was keen competition. Lieutenant-general Sir Bernard Freyberg and Mr Peter Fraser will see the match, after having lunch with the Lord Mayor of Cardiff. The team last Monday inspected the docks and enjoyed a complimentary luncheon and yesterday spent some hours underground inspecting a coal mine. To-day the team was given a civic welcome by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff.
