FIRE IN MOTOR CAMP

TENT BADLY DAMAGED BOY REMOVED TO HOSPITAL (Special) ALEXANDRA, Jan. 4. Campers in the Alexandra borough camping ground had an alarming experience about 11 o’clock last night when a tent occupied by the McQuillan family, of Gore, was badly damaged bv fire, and their son Harry, aged 12, received such severe burns that he was immediately taken to the Dunstan Hospital, where he will be an inmate for about six weeks suffering from severe shock and burns. A younger sister, who was asleep in the tent, was rescued without injury. It appears that the boy Harry was making supper for the family, and was filling a petrol stove with fuel when it became enveloped in flames and set fire to the tent. A bucket- brigade quickly had the outbreak under control thus removing the danger of tne fire spreading to other camping allotments. The damaged tent was partly restored.
