AWAMANGU DOG TRIALS

SUCCESSFUL GATHERING The twelfth annual trials arranged under the auspices of the Awamangu-Hillend Collie Club were held on Mr D. Cochrane’s property, Awamangu, on Friday, and were very successful in every way. The weather, though threatening, remained fine, but a cold wind prevailed. There was a large attendance of local and district residents and the entries were in excess of those of last year. The heading events were of a fairly good standard, the work of the winning dogs being very commendable, and in ' the huntaway events the work was probably the best ever seen in the district, some particularly fine runs being witnessed. A new event, driving and yarding, was introduced this year, and this brought forth good competition and some very interesting work. The trials were well conducted, reflecting credit on the committee, of which Mr R. Steel was president and Mr M. Holgate secretary. Mr W. Bulfin (Tuapeka West) was the judge.
