THE AUCKLAND DISPUTE ULTIMATUM BY EMPLOYERS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 31. In consequence of the decision of the Auckland branch of the Baking Trade Employees’ Union to work a 40-hour five-day week under the terms of the Factories’ Amendment Act, the-Master Bakers’ Association yesterday passed the following resolution:— “That, in view of the threat by the union to refuse to work on Saturdays except at overtime rates, this meeting resolves that the union be informed that the master bakers require the men to report for work for Saturday baking at the same time-and-a-half rates at present ruling, the union to be requested to give definite advice of its intention by noon on Thursday, January 3.”
