TRUSTEESHIP PLAN
RESENTMENT IN KOREA SERIOUS TROUBLE POSSIBLE (Rec. 0.30 a.m.) SEOUL, ipec. 30. The American military authorities clapped on an 8 p.m. curfew, but resentment against the Moscow announcement, plus the conflict between Rightists and Leftists, made more serious trouble possible. Lieutenant-general Hodge told the Korean press he considered there was nothing in the programme which any real patriot or Nationalist need fear. The plan was drafted for Korea's own protection. Seoul early this morning was plastered with huge posters charging the Communist Party with responsibility for the trusteeship plan. The Communist spokesman said the Rightists were responsible for the demonstrations. because all the Leftist elements, including the Communists, had been instructed to conduct peaceful protests against the “Big Three” plan.
The Rightists, at a mass meeting, passed resolutions violently assailing the trusteeship plan and demanding immediate recognition of the Korean Provisional Government, the suppression of all newspapers disagreeing with these views, the dissolution of all political parties, and a strike by all employees of the American Military Government.
