SUNK BY A MINE
AMERICAN MINESWEEPER PEARL HARBOUR, (Pec. 7 p.m.) Dec. 31. The navy announced that the American minesweeper Minivet struck a mine and sank 48 miles north-west of Kyushu Island, with moderate loss of life. The Minivet is the first American minesweeper sunk since the end of the war, although the Japanese sowed 1500 mines when they feared invasion.
