GERMAN COLLIERIES
TAKEN OVER BY BRITAIN LONDON, Dec. 21. The British will take over direct control of all collieries in the British zone in Germany from to-morrow. Assets involved total hundreds of millions of pounds. A controller will be appointed in charge of the assets of 68 colliery companies. Commenting on the announcement, The Times Berlin correspondent says the German owners will be finally dispossessed, receiving no compensation from the occupying authority.
