IMPORT LICENSING
The following amendments to the Import Licensing Schedule for the 1946 period have been received by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce from the Comptroller of Customs: — Prunes dried—ex item 36 (I).—Licences may be granted to allow of importation of prunes from the United States of America to the extent of 110 per cent, of 1945 licences for such goods. Kapok—ex item 449 (2).—The allocation is changed from “ D ” to “ C.” Cigarettes and Manufactured Tobacco.— It has been decided to consider applications from regular importers of tobacco and cigarettes for licences to import such goods from the United Kingdom or other sterling sources within the Empire based on definite evidence of availability. Applications should specify the quantities of pipe or cigarette tobacco and cigarettes which it is desired to import and the time when shipment can be made. Goloshes —ex item 196 (1). —It has been decided to grant licences for imports of goloshes from Canada during 1946 to the extent of the licences granted for the importation of such goods from that source in 1944.
