CATTLE IN KEEN DEMAND A feature of the stock sale at Palmerston yesterday was the keen competition for well-bred young cattle. Sheep also met with a sound demand. Yearlings predominated in the 100 head of cattle entered, the top lines making from £9 18s to £ll 2s 6d; ordinary classes, £0 ss; and yearling heifers from £7 7s 6'd to £7 18s. A pen of prime heifers realised £ls, and ordinary thrce-veai-old steers from £ll 5s to £ll 17s (id. In the sheep section two-tooth wetners made from 25s to 31s; failing-mouth woolly ewes, 14s 4d to 19s 2d; shorn ewes j and lambs, 12s to 13s Gd; and light fat • ewes 30s 9d to 335.
