THE LABOUR PARTY IN TOMAHAWK
Sir,—The members of the Government must feel flattered at receiving congratulations from the Labour Party in the fashionable township of Tomahawk on their legislative achievements—in particular, the 40-hour week. Are the members of that progressive party in favour of a 40-hour week for hotels? Recently this same party passed another resolution in favour of one vote one value. Are they in favour of one vote one responsibility? Communists believe in the old doctrine — “ What’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is my own.” Sir, over 150 votes were recorded at Tomahawk In 1939. In 1943 the residents of the district contributed £4 in 12 months for the patriotic fund, and they subscribed £8 in 1944, £3 of which was presented by an outsider, thus leaving £5 as the contribution from the district. , , ~ ... The Labour Party must believe m .the policy advocated by its late leader, Mr M J. Savage, when he said “ a soldier was entitled to no more consideration than ar.y other man.” Yet these soldiers risked their lives and homes to enable members of the Communist Party to make a nation safe for them to defy the laws of their own making. Such men have made the laws for Russia.—l am, etc., : Resident.
