W.D.F.U.
Portobello.—This branch celebrated its fifteenth birthday by giving an afternoon party. The president, Mrs J. C. Wilson, welcomed the visitors, who included representatives from the Macandrew Bay W.I. the Broad Bay W. 1., the Dunedin branch W.D.F.U., the Otakou branch W.D.F.U., and also Mrs R. Douglass, Otago provincial executive member for this district, and Mrs J. Leatham, Otago provincial secretary. A happy time was spent with games and competitions. The afternoon tea tables looked gay with vases of golden tulips. The birthday cake had been made by Mrs J. C. Wilson. Each speaker congratulated the branch on its 15 years' service to the W.D. A bracket of songs sung by Mrs H. B. J. Campbell delighted all present. The “ mystery parcel ” competition in aid of branch funds was won by Mrs K. McKenzie.
