TROTTING NOTES

By Sentinel

Jottings It is reported that the Globe Derby horse Brilliant Globe broke a leg and had to be destroyed. Lucky Loyal, the winner of the Methven Cup, has won six races during the past 12 months. He cost his owner £ls, and has won £IBB2 10s in stakes. Air Marshall, who won the New Zealand Derby Stakes in 3min 21sec, led' all the way in his race at Methven to win over 13 furlongs in 3min 42 3-ssec—a 3min 25sec gait for 12 furlongs. Rehandicaps

The following rehandicaps have been declared by Mr A. R. Neil son for the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting:— Brighton Maiden Handicap: Good Review 12 yards, Benghazi 48. Improvers’ Handicap: Water Ranger 24. Spring Handicap: Lucky Loyal 24. Avon Handicap: Air Marshall 48. Members’ Handicap: Jack’s Son 36. Struck Trouble

Czardas's form in the Mount Harding Handicap at Methven can be discounted, as he appeared to strike a lot of trouble during the running and did not get a chance to do his best work. The Jack Potts gelding is above the average, and with a reasonable passage in the *Avon Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday he should be prominent at the finish. Show Day Permission having been granted, the Metropolitan Trotting Club will use the extra permit which was recently made available to race on Show Day. This means that the spring meting will now be held on November 3,9, 10, the first race on the Saturdays commencing at 11 a.m., while the first race on Show Day will commence at noon. With an extra day’s racing, the club will now be able to caier for horses which otherwise would not have, had an opportunity of racing at the meeting, and a revised programme will be published shortly. Easy Win Pony Express had one of the easiest wins of the day at Methven when he won the Mount Hutt Handicap by four lengths from Ace of Diamonds, with Implacable in third place. Pony Express (says the Press) was confidently driven by P. G. Holmes, who was content', to follow Paddy Potts over' the first mile and a-half, at which stage he took Pony Express to the front and opened up a gap of four lengths as the straight was approached. Pony Express was not extended to win, and on this performance he should soon win again. By a champion trotter in Royal Worthy, he is from a winner in Fugelene, by Silk Thread from Nellie Audubon, by Great Audubon from Penelope, by Rothschild from the Lincoln Yet mare Georgina.
