SLEEPY FOX’S FAILURE
SYDNEY, Oct. 2. Sleepy Fox. the glamour horse of early spring racing in Sydney, is now in disgrace because he iailed so badly in the George Main Stakes at Randwick yesterday, and it is unlikely that he will be taken to Melbourne. Mr O. Triggs, the representative in Australia of Sleepy Fox’s owners, said: “On his form yesterday it would be waste of time taking him to Melbourne. We ..thought it was just a case of how far he would win by, but he ran like a handicapper instead of a weight-for-age horse. Possibly he has had enough racing for the time being, and he might need an ease-up.” The investment of £50,592 on the totalisator for the Metropolitan yesterday was a record amount for a Sydney race.
