AIRMAN RETURNING
Mr and Mrs Alex Mathieson, of Tomahawk, have received advice that their son, Colin, sailed from Britain for New Zealand on September 22 after seven years’ service with the R.A.F. Colin Mathieson left \Tew Zealand seven years ago to join the R.A.F, as an engineer. After the Dunkirk evacuation he escaped from. France in a small boat, and after going through the blitz on London he was sent to Malta, where he served for two years and a-half through that island’s ordeal. On his way to Malta he met his brother, Reginald, in Egypt, for the first time in three years. Soon after the latter was killed in action at Sidi Rezegh. Colin was married in England on June 23, 1945, to Miss Edith Terry, of Durham, who was serving as a W.A.A.F. at Wingate, and she expects to leave for New Zealand shortly.
