NEW HEADMISTRESSES
TWO COLLEGES FOR GIRLS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. The Samuel Marsden School Board of Trustees has appointed Miss Audrie I. S. Smith to succeed the present headmistress, Miss G. E. Mayhew. Miss Smith took the degree of bachelor of arts in classics at London University and she has been headmistress of the West Kirby County School, Cheshire, since 1940. Before this she was headmistress of a large secondary school in Leeds. The Nga Tawa Board of Trustees has appointed Miss Phyllis Evans headmistress. Miss Evans was educated at Wycombe Abbey School and St. Hughes College. Oxford, taking the degree of B.A. with honours. After a few years’ teaching she won the Yates Scholarship and returned to Oxford to read for honours in theology. At present she is a divinity specialist at the Alice Ottley School, Worcester.
