CARISBROOK CLUB SEVENTIETH ANNUAL MEETING The seventieth annual meeting of the Carisbrook Cricket Club was held last night, the president (Mr G. G. Austin) being in the chair. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance .sheet, the chairman referred to the introduction of a coaching scheme bv the association. He said he thought that with good weather the game would show a marked improvement during the coming season. He extended a welcome to members who had returned from overseas. The motion was seconded by Mr J. Hope and carried unanimously. Election of Officers The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mr G. G. Austin; vice-presidents—Messrs A. H Allen, J. Hope, G. R. Ritchie, A. H. Fisher, D. Brewer, and J. R. Kennedy; club cap tain, Mr R. Carter; deputy ciub captain, Mr L. Milnes; secretary, Mr D. R. McKay; treasurer, Mr J. McArthur; committee— Messrs A. W. McDougalt, W. A. Hadlee, J. Fraser, C. McLaren, O. Gorrie; selectors, Messrs McKay and E. W. Procter; delegates to O.C.A.—Messrs Hadlee, McKay, and McDougall; auditor, Mr C. R. Gaylor; delegate to Boys’ Cricket Association, Mr R. Carter; delegate to Junior Advisory Committee, Mr McLaren. Management Committee The following motion, notice of which was given at the last annual meeting, was moved by the secretary:— No. 1—“ That rules Nos. 22 and 23 be deleted and the following substituted therefor:—Rule No. 22: The Management Committee of the association to be appointed at the annual general meeting shall consist of the president, four vicepresidents (none of whom need be delegates or playing members), two delegates of the honorary members, one delegate of the Otago Boys’ Cricket Association, one delegate of the Otago Umpires’ Association. eight persons to be elected by ballot from the delegates of clubs, provided that if, at the conclusion of the ballot, the committee does not then include a delegate of each senior club, a delegate of each senior club or clubs not then so represented on the committee shall be elected to the committee by ballot, and the secretary and treasurer. The office-bearers and the Management Committee so appointed shall hold office until the next annual meeting, when they shall go out of office, but may be eligible for re-election thereat. At all meetings of the Management Committee eight shall be a quorum. The honorary members' delegates, the Boys’ Association delegate, and the Otago Umpires’ Association delegate shall be members of the Management Committee ex officio." The mover explained that if the proposal was adopted the number of ground members on the committee would be reduced from five to two, and club delegates would be reduced to eight, but provision would be made to ensure that every senior club was represented. It was also proposed to form a number of sub-commit-tees which would meet regularly. It was also important to note that the chairman would be elected from the Management Committee. The motion was carried. The following notice of motion, moved by Mr J. Fleming, was carried:—“The captain be appointed by the playing members of the teams concerned, by popular vote, on the third playing Saturday of the season; acting captains to be appointed by the selectors for the first two Saturdays. In the event of a tie in voting between two or more pjayers for captaincy, the choice be referred to the selectors and/or committee.” Tlie D.' C. Cameron Cup was presented to Mr A. C. Proctor on behalf of Mr A. W. McDougall, captain of the Senior A team. Fewer Senior Teams Mr Hadlee expressed the opinion that it might be of benefit to the game if the number of senior teams was reduced to six. There was a tendency to overlook the junior grades. If the number of teams was reduced the club would probably lose one senior team, but they had to consider the game. Mr Hadlee said he also thought that the Carisbrook Ground, which he considered to be the best in the Dominion, should be open to other clubs for practices. Mr Hadlee's proposals were commended generally, but it was pointed out that the question of providing additional practice wickets was a matter for the Otago Rugby Union.

It was resolved that the club’s delegates to the annual meeting of the association be advised to recommend that the Senior Competition be restricted to six teams.
