BUTCHERY TRADE
deputation to ministers INVESTIGATION PROMISED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 26. Dissatisfaction with the conditions ruling for retail butchers in Wellington and the surrounding districts was ventilated at a, meeting of the Wellington Master Butchers’ Association when a resolution was carried unanimously favouring the closing of butchers shops from Saturday next indefinitely unless some relief was forthcoming from the Government. A deputation which met the Acting Prime Minister, Mr W. Nash, and the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr D. G. Sullivan, to-day was given an assurance that the matter would be thoroughly investigated. A conference between the Wellington and New Zealand Associations will be held at an early date with a view to endeavouring to place proposals before the Government. On the assurance given by the Government the members of the Wellington Master Butchers’ Association have decided not to close their shops, as originally intended.
