NATIONAL EXPENDITURE £734,691 IN EIGHT MONTHS The expenditure for patriotic purposes by the National Patriotic Fund Board for the ei"ht months ended May 31 was £734,691. Among items of expenditure was £263,102 on behalf of troops overseas. £58,825 of this being spent in the Pacific. . The sum of £16,628 was provided for expending by agents, £189,361 for sick and wounded and prisoners of war (including Government grants), £56,046 for miscellaneous purposes, including provision for the welfare of troops in New Zealand and purchases .of wool, and £2036 for the relief of distress overseas.

Included In the expenditure on troops overseas was £22,967 for the benefit of repatriated prisoners of war. - Individual amounts received by the board’s agents to enable them to carry out their work with the New Zealand forces were:—Church Army, £6000; Y.M.C.A., £5002: Catholic War Services, £3000: Salvation Army, £2000; Air Force Relations, £6OO. The Lady Galway Guild received £2O. Administration expenses amounted to £lO4l.
