Welcome Home Ball.—The Maniototo W.D.F.U. held a welcome home ball on Friday evening, there being a large attendance. The hall was decorated for the occasion with flags, greenery and flowers, and the guests of the evening included men recently returned from the Middle East and the Pacific. Mrs D. T. Weir, on behalf of the W.D.F.U., welcomed the men back to Maniototo and asked Mrs R. J. E. Smith to present each with a pair of warm slippers. Mr L. Bleach, representing the Maniototo County Council, Mr A. Kerr the R.S.A., and Mr P. Clarke the Farmers’ Union, each gave the men a warm welcome, and Private M. Baird responded on behalf of the guests, who included the following:— Sister Johnstone, Staff-sergeant G. Stewart, Private R. Agnew, Driver H. Agnew, Private C. Smith. Trooper G.
