REPATRIATED MEN
WELFARE IN ENGLAND Patriotic funds raised in New Zealand are assisting to provide comforts and other amenities for former exprisoners of war, says a statement issued by the National Patriotic Fund Board. Substantial quantities of goods have besn shipped for this purpose from the Dominion, and funds have also been made available to the board’s representative in England, Major S. C. Read, to supplement these and generally to meet the requirements of the welfare work carried out on the board’s behalf by the New Zealand Y.M.C.A. representatives. * The latest report received from Major Read indicates that the repatriated men are pleased with the provision that has been made for them. “Things have been fairly busy lately,” states Major Read. “Repatriated men are arriving at the reception group daily. They come by air and land at aerodromes all over the country. At the present time it is not known whether this procedure will be adopted with all, but there is a possibility that the scheme will continue. I have spoken to several of the repatriates, and they are delighted with the provision which the New Zealand patriotic organisation has made for them.”
