A SOUND INVESTMENT

BANKER URGES SUPPORT (Special) WELLINGTON, May 23. Patriotism and sound investment principles are two of the reasons why New Zealanders should subscribe to the 1945 Victory Loan. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Associated Banks (Mr E. A. Cameron) in an address on the subject. The patriotism of the New Zealand public had been admirably shown in former loans. Mr Cameron said, and he believed it would again be manifested to the same extent on the present occasion. At the same time, as a banker he felt bound to touch on another aspect of the loan and consider it purely and simply for the moment as an investment. “ Let us look at the loan from the security point of view,” he said. “It is backed by all the assets of New Zealand, and carries the unconditional guarantee of the Government. Measured by all the standards of safe and sound investment, the Victory Loan stands out today as the best investment for your savings, however small or however large. Subscriptions to the loan may be spread over a period of four months. Where longer terms are required, the trading banks are prepared to make war loan advances, repayable by instalments spread over eight months, and the interest rate on the loans will be the same rate as subscribers will receive from tne vicioiy Loan.

“ Victory must be paid for.” Mr Cameron added. “ Freedom is precious, and everyone .should make a contribution to the price we are paying for it. I hope, therefore, that every person will subscribe to the utmost limit of his or her available resources.”
