ST. KILDA BEACH
MEETING OF IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY . A meeting of the St. Kilda Beach Improvement Society together with the St. Kilda Municipal Band, was held last week to receive the statement of receipts and expenditure in connection, with the carnival held at the St. Kilda beach in February. The statement presented by the treasurer showed that the sum of £1215 had been raised as a result of the effort. In moving the adoption of the statement the chairman of the carnival executive, Mr W. A. Jenkins, expressed the thanks of both bodies to the voluntary helpers who made such a fine result possible.
Mr J. J. Marlow, on behalf of the St. Kilda Band, expressed thanks to the Beach Improvement Society for its generosity in inviting the band to participate in the carnival. He also congratulated the executive on the manner in which the carnival was conducted, specially mentioning the efforts of the chairman (Mr Jenkins) and the secretarytreasurer (Mr W. A. McQueen). The St. Kilda Band’s share of the proceeds has been deposited In a fund for the building of a modern sound shell at the beach, while the St. Kilda Beach Improvement Society is investigating the cost of building a children’s saltwater swimming baths at the beach.
