DISABLED SERVICEMEN
- RE-ESTABLISHMENT LEAGUE
The monthly meeting of the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establishment League was held on Monday evening. There were present Messrs S. B. Smith (chairman), A. Duncan, W. Dobson, L. F. Evans, G. L. Ferguson. J. H. Miller, W. R. Porter, C. W. Toriey, D. T. Vorley. W. K. Watson, and the district officer. The chairman welcomed to the meeting Mr Porter, who is the new nominee of the R.S.A. Mr Porter is a returned serviceman from the present war. The secretary read the report on the trading activities for the month of April. This showed that the volume of business was well maintained and sales of league products were satisfactory. The major business was the consideration of remits for the general conference which will be held in Wellington on June decided that the league should have a stand at the Winter Show as in former years, for the display of disabled soldiers’ products. The chairman reported on a new costing system, and it was decided that further action should be deferred, pending the visit of Mr Sullivan, the headquarters accountant. , . . Much concern was expressed in regard to the delay in installing the dust extraction plant, and the secretary reported on the steps he had taken to expedite the matter. Likewise, the fire prevention equipment had been held up for no apparent valid reason, and it was decided to take the matter up witn those concerned. The secretary reported on the progress made with the scheme for the development of the grounds surrounding the building. .
