OBITUARY

MR T. G. TILY The death occurred on Sunday, at the age of 75 years, of Mr Thomas Gray Tily, who was well known in the printing trade in Dunedin. As a young man he spent some years in the North Island, and later worked for both the Otago Daily Times and the Evening Star, retiring from the service of the latter Company after having served as a proof reader for many years. Mr Tily was of a genial nature, and was popular with his fellow workers and friends. An enthusiastic follower of cricket, and a player in his younger days, he acted as umpire in local matches for some years.

MR WILLIAM H. THOMSON The death occurred yesterday morning of Mr William H. Thomson, builder, of Kaikorai, a well-kncwn member of the Dunedin Returned Services’ Association. Last year he was a vice-president of the R.S.A., of which he had been an executive member since 1939. During the last war he served abroad with the Australian forces as a sergeant of engineers, and was a member and past president of the Aus.ralian Imperial Forces' Association in Dunedin. An enthusiastic bowler, Mr Thomson was a member cf the Kaikorai Club, and took part in many local tournaments and R.S.A. matches. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.

DR B. H. GILMOUR (PA.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 23. Dr Bertram Hazelwood Gilmour. who has been a medical practitioner at Lyttelton for the last 25 years, died suddenly at his home this evening. He was born near Invercargill, and was educated at the Southland Boys’ High School and at Otago University. After graduating in 1914 he was on the staff of the Timaru Public Hospital, and later served as a medical officer in the First New Zealand Expeditionary Force. On returning to New Zealand he practised at Roxburgh till 1920, when he took up practice at Lyttelton. He was appointed port health officer about two years ago. Dr Gilmour was a member of the Advisory Board of tlie Lyttelton branch of the Plunket Society, and was associated also with the St. John Ambulance Brigade. He is survived by his wife, three sons (two serving overseas, one of whom was recently reported wounded), and one daughter.
