SOLDIER ARTIST

CAPTAIN PETER McINTYRE HIGH PRAISE For work (N.Z.E.F. Official War Correspondent) (Rec. 7 p.m.) TRIESTE, May 21. High praise for the work of the New Zealand official war artist, Captain Peter Mclntyre, was expressed in a letter written by the distinguished English painter, Mr W. Russell Flint. Writing of Captain Mclntyre’s recent exhibition in London, mainly of pictures illustrating the New Zealanders in the Italian campaign, Mr Flint says: “Excellent! I was delighted. He has just the right balance between artistry and realism and journalistic vividness for a war artist. 1 wish more of our war pictures had his qualities. His picture of the bombing of Cassino is brilliant—quite a masterpiece, and his drawings, as well as many of the other paintmgs, attracted me strongly. He is both a good draughtsman and a good painter.”
