JAPANESE THROWN OUT
CHUNGKING, May 21. The Chinese High Command announces the capture of Mamoi. Mamoi, which is directly south of Foochow, had been strongly fortified by the Japanese in readiness for Allied landings along this part of the China coast. A sudden Chinese offensive recaptured Hochi an important Japanese bastion on the Kwangsi-Kweichow railway, 95 miles west of Liuchow. _ The Kuomintang Congress carried a resolution expressing gratitude for British, American, and Russian aid given China, saying. “Japan in her desperation is certain to make her last stand in China.” , „ „ , .. The resolution added: Only by the liberation of Manchuria, the return of Formosa to China, the restoration of Korean independence and the total extermination of Japanese aggression may we consider victory completely won.”
