GENERAL YAMASHITA
FLEEING FROM CAVE TO CAVE (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 22. General Tomoyuki Yamashita, commander of the Japanese forces on Luzon, is believed to be fleeing from cave to cave in a labyrinth of tunnels 75 feet below the surface as the American 33rd Division blasts the Japanese from mountain strongholds, says the New York Post’s correspondent. Subterranean headquarters, in which Yamashita apparently worked during the final weeks of the siege of Baguio, were discovered by the Americans.
