PRISONERS OF WAR
A HUMANITARIAN WORK PRAISE FOR INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 22. The Acting Prime Minister, Mr W. Nash, has sent the following message to the president of the Central Agency for Prisoners cf War, the International Red Cross Society, Geneva:— “ In thanking you for your kind message I should like to convey to you on behalf of the Government and people of New Zealand an expression cf our sincerest appreciation of the great work of the International Red Cross Society during the last six years. By its constant and painstaking endeavours the International Red Cross has helped to bring comfort and hope to thousands of prisoners of war and internees and immeasurable relief and happiness to their families and friends.” Mr Nash concluded the message with a reference to the true spirit, of humanity which actuated the Red Cross, and with an assurance that New Zealand would not rest until that spirit had been established throughout the world.
