Red Cross Show.—A fruit and vegetable show which is being organised by Mr D. Martin, of Beaumont, will be held in the Lawrence Town Hall to-morrow, the total proceeds to be devoted to the Lawrence Sub-centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society. No entry fees will be charged for exhibits, and no prize money will be awarded. All goods remaining on the stands will be sold by auction at the conclusion of the evening. Exhibits will be received at the Town Hall to-night ana to-morrow morning. * Fire Siren.—Owing to the generosity of public-spirited citizens the Lawrence volunteer Fire Brigade has been enabled to erect a fire siren on the bell tower. St. Patrick’s School, and the Tuapeka West School assembled at the P°ace Gardens and marched to the Town Hall. Following the singing of the National Anthem, the chairman of the Lawrence District H'gh School Committee. Mr W. E. Duthie, introduced the speakers, the Mavor (Mr W J. Suters) and th» president of the local R.S.A. (Mr .T. R. Forbes). A picture entertainment followed, and as ice creams were unprocurable the children received a gift of cake.
