Mr and Mrs Davie have taken an active part in various orp-amsa-tiots in the district while they have lived here, and the following speakers expressed regret at their departure;—Mr \\. bcauc, on behalf of the patriotic, Red Cross, and soldiers' farewell organisations; Mr J. Music for the dance was supplied by Mrs Deveraux, of LugB solrtinrs’ Farewell Committee.—A meeting of the Soldiers’ Farewell Committee wiis held to appoint members to fill t,,e vacancies caused by the departure of Mr and Mrs Davie. Mr W. Ironside was appointed to succeed Mr Davie as chairman, and Mrs Burrows was elected to the committee in place of Mrs Davie. Missis Renton and Studholme were added to the commit ce.
