NOTES FROM RICCARTON
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, May 22. The No. 8 grass track was open this morning. It had dried up well since yesterday, and was used by a number of the trainers, though there was nothing in the way of serious galloping. There was a light drizzling shower of rain before the work was completed. Main interest in the proceedings was provided by three jumpers. Lunaria and Kilcato, with Drummer Boy following them, gave a good display over four hurdles. Kilcato is on .the way back to form, while the other two are novices, who shape very well. C Emerson was at the track this morning, after an absence of several weeks, part of the time in hospital. He is in pood health, but will take things quietly for a little longer. „ it . Gamble has finished his racing for this season, and R. Wilson will treat him to a well-earned rest before getting him ready for spring engagements. Mr W. Hosking was an Auckland visitor to the track this morning. He is the owner of The Crofter, a useful two-year-old by Tweed II that R. Wilson will race at the Dunedin meeting. A trainer’s licence has been granted to C. H. Fairman, who expects to have several horses under his care very soon.
Dividend strode out freely in strong pace work this morning, and S. Barr is hopeful about his trip to Wanganui next week.
