MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union held Its first meeting of the season last night, the president (Mr A. H. Cameron) occupying the chair. Inglis, and H. G. Munro. Correspondence Committee.—Messrs H. Harris, D. M. Spedding, A. H. Cameron, and the secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson). Reinstatement Committee.—Messrs V. G. Cavanagh (convener), R. W. S. Botting, J. W. Hayes, and H. G. Munro. Appeal and Judicial Committee. —Messrs H. Harris, V. G. Cavanagh, and A. H. Cameron. Finance Committee.—Messrs D. M. Spedding (convener), D. C. Jolly, V. Bailey, and members to be elected by the clubs. Encouragement of Schoolboys

' Following a suggestion made by Mr D. Palmer at the annual meeting, Mr H. C. Williamson moved that the clubs be asked to communicate with the various schools in their districts with a view to arranging for facilities for Saturday riiorning practice for schoolboys. He said that the idea behind the proposal was to interest the boys in the various districts in the clubs in those areas so that when they left school they would not be lost to the game. Mr L. Williams said that the Kaikorai Club had already communicated with the four schools In its district < with a view to organising a competition to be played at haTf-time in matches on the clubs ground. The schools were Arthur Street, Kaikorai, Maori Hill, and Wakarl. The motion was carried. Selection Committee

It was decided to invite nominations for the Selection Committee from all affiliated clubs and sub-unions. Nominations will close on April 30. Senior Competition

The Flag Committee was instructed to arrange the first round of matches in the senior competition In one section. A previous resolution was reaffirmed that no flags be awarded in open grades—first, second, and third—during the war period: Country Football It was decided to send a circular to tire sub-unions to ascertain the prospects of reviving the game in all the country districts and to suggest that they should endeavour to arrange for meetings of the clubs in their districts. The union agreed to send representatives to meetings in the country districts if desired. New Zealand Union It was decided to nominate Mr E. V. Phillipps, of. Christchurch, for the position of president of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, and Mr D. M. Spedding for a seat on the council of the union. General Mr W. J. Pearson was reappointed the union’s representative on the Footballers' Accident Fund. The Secondary Schools’ Rugby Committee advised that Mr T. L. Bailey had been appointed its representative on the Management Committee. R. A. Mcßride was granted a transfer from the Union Club to the Southern Club, subject to his clearance being in order.
