LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Central.—Family life in general, and how it affects the wider life of the community and of the nation, was discussed by Mrs D. C. Herron. God’s purpose in instituting the family, she said, was so that all might learn tire art of living with, and for, other people. Mrs R. S. Watson presided, and welcomed Mrs Jones (provincial president), and other visitors. Mrs Toms read the thought, and Mrs Harvey the Scripture. Mrs B. Stuart moved a vote of thanks to Mrs Herron, and to Mrs Angus, who, accompanied by Mrs Herron, had played two delightful violin solos. Stirling.—Mrs Coatsworth presided. Mr Conly and Miss Stuckey, of the' Vocational Guidance Centre at Dunedin, spoke stressing the advantage of a secondary education for young people. Miss D. Weir and Miss E. Anderson rendered solos, and Mrs S. Mosley read the thought from the King’s message. Mrs J. Park proposed votes of thanks. Mrs T. Duncan reported that two more cakes were ready for posting to the men overseas. Caversham.—Mrs Davidson presided, and welcomed Mrs Hunt, a former treasurer, now of Tauranga. The Rev. W. R. Laws gave an interesting and helpful address on "The Sanctity of Marriage," and Mrs Clark thanked the speaker. Solos were rendered bv Mrs Hamilton and Mrs James. The thought brought by Mrs Reid was, “ The sword which can impose peace does not thereby create peace, for peace is of the spirit.”
