HOME ECONOMICS

A council meeting of the Otago Home Economics Association was held on Thursday, when Mrs Digby Smith presided over representatives of branches. Mrs Glue and Mrs Laidlaw were also present. Printed copies of the interesting series of central lectures arranged for the season were distributed. Good wishes were extended to Mrs O. N. Campbell, who will leave shortly on two months’ furlough. Mrs Laidlaw consented to represent the association on the National Council of Women. Maia Branch.—Mrs Cameron presided at a well-attended meeting held in Mrs Pinckney’s home. After a report had been given of the previous council meeting, the president welcomed Mrs Johnson, who gave a delightful practical display or the art of floral decorative work. Mrs Johnson brought with her a wonderful collection of flowers of all kinds and colours, and these were skilfully grouped in a variety of combinations to illustrate the art of colour blending, resulting in an array of exquisite sprays.
